ARE YOU TIRED OF...

wanting to help but unsure how

trying to help without it taking over your life

not knowing what to really say

lacking the skills of a trained counselor

Tired of wanting to help, but not knowing how?

YOU MAY BE

PASSIONATE ABOUT PEOPLE

BUT UNSURE OF HOW TO TRULY HELP THEM

AND MOST LIKELY, YOU'VE ASKED THIS QUESTION BEFORE:

WHAT TO SAY WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY?

When I first started my career as a mental mental health case manager I was bright eyed and eager to save the world.

As a fresh graduate I felt called to support those who are struggling. But it was just a few weeks in that I realized that even after all the years in school I still had a lot to learn. Time after time I would come across situations and not know what to say or how to help. I felt helpless. Grief, suicide, addiction, panic attacks and complication interpersonal conflicts. Every person I met seemed to have complex and overwhelming struggles.

After 15 years of working as a crisis and mental health counsellor I have gathered tools, skills and strategies to confidently care for others. Although, life seems to become more complex I know have the foundational tools to be able to serve with care and confidence.

FAQ

I'M JUST A VOLUNTEER, IS THIS FOR ME?

Often times as a volunteer you are on the frontlines of ministry. The go-to for individuals who are struggling. If you find yourself supporting others, and not knowing what to say or how to help then this course gives you the tools, strategies and confidence you need to be an effective caregiver in ministry.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO COMMIT?

Each lesson consists of a short (12-15 min) video. But you may want to use time in between lessons to practice your new skills and pdf templates. I would plan on 3 weeks to complete the course.

WHAT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE DO I NEED TO HAVE?

Being that the course is online, basic computer skills are required. However, if you are reading this message, you are able to navigate the internet and therefore, have all the skills you need to complete the course. ;)

ABOUT LAURA HOWE

I am a counsellor and project manager.

I have been working as a registered social worker for 15 years and specialize in mental health, trauma and addictions.

I hit the ground running and learned many lessons through trial and error in the beginning of my career.

After hundreds of gracious clients, many supportive supervisors and multiple courses, certificates and training I have developed strong skills and understanding for supportive and crisis counselling.

God birthed the idea of bringing the message of hope and strength to the church as faith leaders are in service to their congregations and communities everyday facing similar tragic stories and needs that I heard as a counsellor.

Using strategies based on industry best practices and researched principles I build courses and workshops that support and strengthen ministry leaders to care and support others.

Equipping you to strengthen your skills and build your team to serve others with excellence and hope.
